On May 30, 2025, the Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University (KATRU) welcomed the Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Qu Dongyu, on an official visit. This event marks a significant milestone in the development of Kazakhstan’s international cooperation in agricultural sciences, education, and sustainable development.

During the visit, an exhibition was organized where employees of NFT-KATU LLP showcased their developments. Key innovations included:

  • Extruded compound feeds enriched with phytobiotics, with enhanced nutritional value for livestock, poultry, and fish;
  • New biological preparations for the prevention and treatment of bee diseases;
  • Test kits for assessing the quality and safety of food products, designed for veterinary and sanitary laboratories.

A particular highlight was the line of rapid test kits for monitoring food quality and safety:

  • Test for identifying meat from animals that died naturally or were slaughtered in agony;
  • Milk acidity test kit for field conditions;
  • Kit for detecting potassium permanganate in meat;
  • Test for nitrates/nitrites in meat and meat products;
  • Indicators for residual active chlorine in poultry meat.

These kits can be used outside laboratory conditions, making them highly practical.

Additionally, significant scientific works – monographs and research articles – were presented, summarizing the results of years of studies aimed at improving agricultural efficiency.

 This event underscores the importance of international collaboration in agricultural sciences and technologies, while also demonstrating the high level of research activity at KATRU, which contributes substantially to the development of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial sector and global agricultural science.
