The common hop (Latin Humulus lupulus) is a representative of the Hemp family (Latin Cannabaceae). It is found everywhere in temperate countries.
For the first time, as a medicinal remedy, it was described by the physician Meze in the IX century, who used hops as a choleretic. In Chinese medicine, hop extract is traditionally used for the prevention and treatment of viral diseases, in the fight against fungi, staphylococci, streptococci and other microorganisms.
Prenylated flavonoids of hops are powerful biologically active substances and have antibacterial, capillary-strengthening, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, regenerative, bactericidal and fungicidal effects. Hop cones extract is used for digestive problems, also strengthens the immune system and improves appetite, helps animals reduce stress and anxiety, i.e. it has a sedative effect, which increases dairy and meat productivity.
Hop cones contain a large number of macronutrients (Fe, Mg, Ca, K) and trace elements (Al, Cu, Zn, Mn, Mo, Ni, V, Se, Cr, B, Sr, Pb, I). They also include vitamins B1, B3, B6, C, ascorbic acid, tannins (catechins, polyphenols, proanthocyanidins), organic acids (isovaleric, pelargonic, caprylic), essential oils (humulene, caryophyllene, myrcene), flavonoids (xanthohumol, isoxanthohumol), alcohols, coumarins, bitters substances, choline, wax, sesquiterpenes, minerals (calcium, magnesium), resinous substances (humulone, lupulone), glycosides (rutin, isoquercitrin, quercetin), thiamine and many other useful components.
