Chaga Mushroom Extract (Inonotus obliquus (Fr.) Pilat)

Chaga is rich in polysaccharides, triterpenoids (such as inotodiol), flavonoids, and saponins, exhibiting a broad spectrum of pharmacological activity.

  • The black outer crust contains terpenes, which have strong antitumor properties.
  • The inner orange layer contains beta-glucans, providing immunomodulatory effects similar to those of Reishi mushroom.
  • Secondary metabolites isolated from I. obliquus include polysaccharides, polyphenols, lanostane-type triterpenoids, and inotodiol. These compounds are considered bioactive components that support bee health.
  • Chaga is well-tolerated by bees, non-toxic, and has virtually no contraindications.

Use in Beekeeping

Chaga is widely used in beekeeping as a natural immune stimulant and a remedy for various bee diseases. Its extract contains compounds that strengthen bee colonies and enhance their resistance to infections. It can be used for preventing and treating conditions such as:

  • Nosemosis (caused by Nosema spp.)
  • Ascosphaerosis (chalkbrood disease)

Key Active Components & Their Benefits for Bees
